This tube drum is a resonating wooden instrument that can be used to produce two tones of different pitches. In this version without a handle, the middle of the instrument is thinner than the two tubes on the sides. This means that children first have to learn how they should hold the instrument in order to be able to produce the best possible sound. If they touch too much of the resonating body's space when holding it in the center, it won't create a sound because it can't unfold freely in the hollow space. The sound is produced by striking the tubes with a mallet. This mindful way of producing sound requires a little patience on the part of the player, but is beneficial for children's concentration and motor skills.
We manufacture the 2-Tone Block from local beech wood, which we coat with a very thin layer of varnish. Like all our instruments, the tubular drums are tested according to the German toy standard and are absolutely safe even for the smallest children. Due to the motor skills, we recommend the 2-Tone Block for children from 3 years.
