Our castanet made of beech wood is an essential part of the Orff instruments. The wooden clatter is an ideal instrument for the first discovery of rhythm and music. With a diameter of 55 millimeters, the Rohema castanet fits perfectly even in small children's hands.
The rubber loop is placed over the index finger and the castanet can be opened and closed between thumb and index finger. This allows the little musicians to create wonderful rhythms and try their hand. Experienced players may even create different timbres by varying the way they strike the instrument.
Castanets are so-called counter-striking idiophones. They probably originated in the Orient and were also known in ancient Egypt and Greece. Today they are mostly associated with Spanish music. They can be played individually or in pairs. We recommend our castanets for children from 3 years and older.
