The rakatak is a rhythm instrument with a hollow and upwardly open resonating body with a slit that serves to develop the sound. A movable clapper is inserted through this resonating body, which strikes the two sides of the hollow body with every movement of the instrument. This produces an accurate and accentuated tone. The sound is similar to the rattling of a rattlesnake or the clatter of a horse. The Rakatak is an excellent companion for knee riding rhimes or musical stories. We manufacture the Rakatak from the finest beech wood from local forests. The red varnish of the balls is saliva- and sweat-proof and therefore absolutely harmless, even for small children. The red Rakatak has a bright sound.
